Messages

Work in Development
Reading

How can our view of ourselves stand up against the
unrelenting pushback of others?

Presented as a WIP play reading, Messages follows Lizzie, an acting student who came out as Asexual during the first year of her degree and is now facing her third and final year of University. As she struggles through the year she also has to face her fellow classmates as their views of her sexuality come to light, forcing her to assess both her relationships as well as herself. Laced with comedy, drama, and insights from real members of the LGBT+ community, Messages aims to capture some of the subtleties and intricacies of the Asexual experience and make them more accessible to a wider audience.
